The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) organised in collaboration with its partners the 11th Asia Europe Economic Forum (AEEF11) on 4-5 December 2014 in Tokyo, Japan.The Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) was the host for this forum. The discussions at this high-level meeting focussed on the question “What can Asia learn from economic reforms in Europe?”
The forum examined a number of key trends in both regions, including structural reforms and their relationship to economic growth, macro-economic and financial policy, Small and Medium Enterprise development and the financial sector, globalisation and income distribution, and strengthening of the world trading system.
Key contributions were made by representatives from several AEEF consortium members, including Mr HE Fan, Deputy Director, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS); Mr Naoyuki YOSHINO, Dean, ADBI; Mr Guntram WOLFF, Director, Bruegel; and Mr Andreas ESCHE, Director, Bertelsmann Foundation.
Keynote addresses were delivered by representatives from the International Monetary Fund and the Bank of Japan.
The next AEEF chapter is scheduled to take place in the second half of 2015 in Paris, France.
