The media plays a vital role before, during and after a crisis. This includes notifying of risks, educating people, communicating accurate information to ensure adequate preparedness, collecting and sharing information about damage, alerting government and relief organisations to people’s needs, and influencing society’s response to the crisis.
The 10th ASEF Journalists’ Colloquium will focus on crisis reporting. The colloquium will be organised in conjunction with the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM FMM12) in November 2015 in Luxembourg.
The recommendations from the colloquium will be published as a handbook, which will be the 2nd in the ASEF Media Handbook series. The handbook will be a ready reference on crisis reporting for Asian and European journalists.
More information on the programme and details about participation will follow in coming months.
