This conference explored state-of-the-art social media in Asia and Europe and emerging trends of social media use amongst young generations in Asia and Europe.The event helped participants to build networks and share experiences with leading Finnish and international scholars, innovators, and business leaders.
THE CONTEXT
“Social media” primarily refers to digital tools for sharing and discussing information. While the notion of social media refers to certain communication technologies, their applications have far-reaching consequences for our communications architecture on the whole. Be it internet forums, blogs, wikigroups, Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter, social media applications are used in virtually every field in today’s society. Because social media enables greater participation and decentralisation, it challenges conventional structures of Asia-Europe interaction.
