OVERVIEW
This Meeting of Publishers brought together 43 guests that comprised publishers, national book fair organisers, representatives of book publishers’ associations, and representative bodies involved in promoting publishing from Asia and Europe for an evening of networking and discussion.
Andreas Langenscheidt, General Partner and Chairman of the Langerscheidt Publishing Group, chaired the meeting, and Andre Levy, an eminent French translator of oriental literature, gave the keynote address. Levy spoke about the translator’s role in cultural dialogue, his personal experience as a translator of oriental literature, and his efforts to balance the conflicting demands of his editor and his craft.
