Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Delegation, visited the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) on Monday, 22 May 2017. The European Parliament’s ASEAN Delegation visit was co-organised with the Delegation of the European Union in Singapore.
Ambassador Karsten WARNECKE, ASEF’s Executive Director, introduced the organisation’s projects and activities in different thematic areas.
The MEPs then took part in the Roundtable Discussion on Human Rights held in celebration of the 20 years of the Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights. The Roundtable addressed the human rights situation in Asia and Europe while underscoring ASEF’s role in promoting dialogue between the 2 regions for the past 2 decades.
Now on its 20th year in 2017, ASEF continues to bring together government officials, academics, and civil society representatives from Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) partner countries through the Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights.
