OVERVIEW
Youth activists from non-governmental organisations in Asia and Europe gathered for an eight-week seminar and training course on youth and globalisation, held on the theme “For A World Without Borders.”
The youth camp focused on the effects of globalisation, in particular:
– Migration
– Good governance
– Cultural identity
– Employment
– Education
– Lifelong learning
These issues had been targeted as youth-related concerns during the ASEM Youth Dialogue On Globalisation held from 19-22 September 2002 in Hillerod, Denmark.
The participants also produced operation manuals, which contained the recommendations set forth by the ASEM Youth Statement on Globalisation, drafted and adopted by the youth leaders who attended the dialogue the previous year.
Other camp highlights included an Asia-Europe Information Fair where organisations showcased their programmes and activitie; workshops; and training sessions in advocacy, mediation, and conflict resolution.
