OVERVIEW
Eleven women filmmakers from Asia and Europe took part in Creteil’s International Women’s Film Festival. They were:
– Yau Ching (Hong Kong, China)
– Guo Xiaolu (China)
– Nia di Nata (Indonesia)
– Nan Achnas (Indonesia)
– Sachi Hamano (Japan)
– Lee Eon-hee (Korea)
– Yasmin Ahmad (Malaysia)
– Ditsi Carolina (Philippines)
– Lee Wong and Tania Sng (Singapore)
– Mingmongkol Sonakul (Thailand)
Apart from interviews and meetings with audiences and film professionals, the filmmakers had the chance to share their experiences during a special forum on Asian cinema and a solidarity gala for Asia.
The Creteil jury announced the festival winners on 19 March 2005 and two participants received awards. Yasmin Ahmad took the Jury Grand Prize for “Sepet” and Lee Eon-Hee won the “Graine de cinephage” award for “…Ing.” Selected participants also took part in visits to cinema organisations and met with cinema professionals in Paris.
