Can existing regional security structures address current and emerging security challenges in Asia and Europe?
ASEF with its partners in the Europe-Asia Policy Forum, will address this issue at a public briefing Improving Regional Security Architectures through an Asia-Europe Strategic Partnership in Brussels (13th December 2011).
Hosted by the European Policy Centre, this briefing will explore possibilities for greater Asia-Europe collaboration in conflict management. It will also examine prospects for inter-regional cooperation in managing on-going conflicts. Focus will be on common concerns shared by Asian and European Union countries.
Earlier this year, ASEF organised its 8th Asia-Europe Roundtable (8th AER) The Future of an Asia-Europe Strategic Partnership in Conflict Transformation. A publication of the proceedings of this roundtable will be launched during the Brussels briefing.
The 8th AER was organised by ASEF, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) and the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA) with support from the Europe-Asia Policy Forum (EUforAsia), funded by the European Union.
